From Our Chair

Welcome to Adopt-A-Student! Our mission is to provide financial assistance to students whose families wish to provide them an education in the tradition and environment of Catholic schools.

   Donations to Adopt-A-Student provide scholarship grants for students in our Central Catholic Elementary, Junior and Senior High Schools. Your donations have helped to Change a Life for over 340 students. We continue to receive more applications than we are able to fund, which motivates us to find new ways to provide more scholarship opportunities to those families seeking assistance to provide their children with the opportunities offered by receiving an education in Catholic schools.

Signs of the Economy

In addition to awarding scholarship grants by application, we also provide financial aid on an emergency basis so that students may continue their Catholic education. This school year we saw students withdrawing from our Catholic schools due to the combined pressures of rising costs and the economic downturn. Adopt-A-Student was able to provide $150,000 in extra financial aid directly to the schools so that families who needed just a little financial assistance could keep their children in our Catholic schools.This little bit of financial aid made a big difference in the lives of 88 students.

     On June 7, 2009 we held the 1st Annual Dash for Cash Family run/ walk for Catholic Education to give students and their sponsors an opportunity to raise money for their tuition and also add to our fund to assist the Central Catholic help those families who need a little extra assistance. Bishop McManus celebrated Mass at Institute Park to start the event. The day was enjoyed by all and was the foundation to build on.

20^th Annual Golf Classic

Our Golf Tournament this year will be held on August 31, 2009 at Wachusett Country Club and will honor the memory of Richard (Dick) O’Hearn Jr. a long time supporter and member of our Committee.  To learn more about how to participate and support this event check our Events page.
